Arvada Fire recently received two awards for excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
The first recognition received from the GFOA was a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for Arvada Fire’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2021. The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a “significant accomplishment by a government agency and its management,” according to the GFOA.
Additionally, Arvada Fire received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the GFOA for the current fiscal period.
“This is the first time Arvada Fire has received the distinguished budget award and the tenth time we’ve received the certificate of achievement,” said Arvada Fire Chief Mike Piper. “These awards are independent, third-party validation of our commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility.”
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), founded in 1906, represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada. GFOA's mission is to advance excellence in public finance.
